5/30/2023 0 Comments Dofus animated series![]() The settings, creatures and characters all had their own story to tell from one era to the next, and thus from one game to the next.Ī new class, new areas, new bosses and other creatures will therefore be appearing in your video games, opening exciting and unexpected new doors in your adventure. It was dreamed up by Tot, the creator of the WAKFU animated series and the movies DOFUS Book I: Julith and Princess Dragon, not to mention the MMORPGs you all know and love.Īs the name of the series suggests, Tot wanted to tell the story of the final quest of an old adventurer who still had plenty of life and fight in him and much to prove despite his creaky bones (and perhaps more than that, since he'll have to overcome his age-related weaknesses).Īs production on the series progressed, every aspect of Lance Dur's story – the hero, his friends and adversaries, and the places he would visit – fell into place and came to life within the Krosmoz as a whole. The starting point is an animated series entitled The Last Adventure of Count Lance Dur. Now enough talking, here are some actual videos showing you what I'm recomending:įirst fighting scene from ep.The name "Lance Dur" hides a plethora of mysteries and surprises… Now this animated series is not new by any means, it was first aired in 2008 with a 1st season of 26 episodes, then in 2011 a second season started which would have 26 episodes too, then came a number of special episodes or short films continuing the story until a full new season got released last year (2017), I'm not sure if the 3rd season is officially finished at ep.13 or if will continue to 26 like the other two, is not strange for Ankama to space out episodes by months, so they might come up with more soon. Wakfu's universe uses the common trope of duality, ying & yang, good vs evil, but presents it in fresh and original way that makes it interesting, the universe called Krosmoz with apparently an egg shape was formed by the clash of the force of creation Wakfu and the force of destruction Stasis both incarnated by the primordial deities of Ealiatrope and the Great Dragon respectively, from this huge Krosmoz that contains hundreds of billions of galaxies everything of interest seems to be happening in the planet called the World of Twelves, named that way because of the 12 ruling gods in it, each god represents a race of the planet inhabitants, which mostly resemble humans, elves and some furry like creatures (anthropomorphic cats and dogs) but I stop here as this is actually covered in either the series Wakfu or Dofus, BTW Dofus is the name for the Dragon Eggs, which are central to storyline. These animated features depict events that happened well before the Wakfu series timeline, giving more insight to this whole universe, in fact some of the characters introduced in them appear eventually in Wakfu as well. ![]() Doing a break from my usual artposting for making an animated series recommendation, the show in question is named Wakfu, and is based on a MMORPG of the same name developed by Ankama, at glance it seems pretty much a generic adventure fantasy world where you can find elves, paladins, dragons, etc but Ankama has actually developed a quite nice fictional universe with even an original creation myth related to the events of the series of which I will tell a bit later in the post, It also has this unique art style and character design, that definitively draws a lot from anime aesthetic but still stand apart, that being said it would be easy to believe Wakfu is of Japanese production but actually it's entirely done in France.Īnkama has produced other animated material related to Wakfu's universe, such as Dofus: Treasures of Kerub (2013) with a follow up movie Dofus: Livre 1 - Julith (2016), and apparently more coming soon.
